Haleakala
Walking in the crater of the Haleakalā volcano in Maui is like exploring another world, where the desolate and surreal terrain stretches out under a vast and silent sky. "Haleakalā" comes from Hawaiian and means "House of the Sun" (hale = house, akalā = sun).
The name reflects the deep connection between Hawaiian culture and the forces of nature, as well as the majestic experience of watching the sunrise from the summit of Haleakalā, a spectacle that seems to justify this "abode of the sun".
The colors of the earth vary between shades of red, gray, and black, and the thin air seems to carry an ancient stillness. There, the immensity of the volcano awakens a feeling of reverence, as if time stopped and the spirit was invited to contemplate the vastness of its own being.
